Pasadena’s Playhouse Village Foundation has inducted Patricia Barajas Tavera to its Board of Directors. “Patty brings a long and impressive record of philanthropic and fundraising expertise to the Foundation. We are lucky to have her commitment to our mission of building community in the Village by activating open spaces, streets, sidewalks, alleys and paseos for greater public benefit,” stated Board Chair Phil Hawkey.

An editing and marketing consultant educated at Yale, Barajas Tavera is also a crackerjack volunteer for notable Pasadena area non-profits and institutions. She currently serves as Board Member for the Rose Bowl Operating Company and as a Pasadena Playhouse Trustee. She continues a 14-year stint as a weekly meal delivery volunteer for Pasadena Meals on Wheels. Patty served in leadership positions at the East Los Angeles YMCA, MiMentor.org, Healing Hearts Restoring Hope, and Homeboy Industries/Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission.

Patty served on the parent advisory boards of Polytechnic School in Pasadena and UCLA. Patty co-founded the Voces at Poly book club, highlighting works of Latino authors for the Poly community. An avid patron of the arts, she served on the board of Hispanics for LA Opera, enthusiastically co-chairing the Annual Gala at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Patty welcomes the challenge of supporting the 34-square block Playhouse Village area in the heart of downtown Pasadena: “As a Pasadena Playhouse Trustee and a 25-year Pasadena resident, I am honored to join the hard working, dedicated members of the Playhouse Village Foundation. I love Pasadena and I’m excited to jump in and do my part to create an even better, more vibrant community.”

Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Barajas Tavera resides in Pasadena with her husband, attorney Dino Barajas, and their daughters.
